Docs/Analytics/Credit Usage

Credit Usage

Credits are the resource unit in AIChatVault. Each AI response consumed in a conversation uses credits from your organisation's shared pool. The Usage page at workspace level gives you a full breakdown of consumption.

Viewing credit usage

1

Go to the Usage page

Click Usage in the main workspace sidebar (not inside an individual agent).
2

Filter by agent (optional)

Use the agent dropdown to view usage for a single agent or all agents combined.
3

Select a date range

Choose Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, or This Month from the date picker.
4

Read the dashboards

The page shows credits used, agents used, the daily history chart, and a per-agent breakdown pie chart.

Credits used gauge

The circular progress gauge on the Usage page shows:

  • Credits used — the number in the centre of the gauge.
  • Your plan limit — shown below the number (e.g. 500 / 5,000). Plans with unlimited credits show ∞.
  • Credits remaining — shown in text below the gauge.
  • Reset date — when your credit allowance refreshes for the next billing period.

Agents used gauge

A second circular gauge shows how many agents you have created vs your plan's agent limit. This helps you see if you are approaching the maximum number of agents allowed on your current plan.

Usage history chart

The bar chart shows daily credit consumption over the selected date range. Hover over any bar to see the exact number of credits consumed on that day. Days with no usage show a minimal bar.

Credits per agent breakdown

The pie chart at the bottom of the Usage page shows how much each agent has consumed from the shared credit pool. This helps identify which agents are driving the most usage — useful for cost allocation or optimisation.

How credits work

FactDetail
ScopeCredits are shared across all agents in your organisation — there is one pool per workspace
ConsumptionEach AI-generated response consumes credits. The exact amount depends on the AI model used and the length of the response
ResetCredits reset at the start of each billing period (monthly or annually depending on your plan)
RolloverUnused credits do not carry over to the next period unless specified in your Enterprise plan agreement
Top-upsYou can purchase additional credits as a one-time add-on from Settings → Billing. Top-up credits do not expire

When credits run out

When your organisation's credit balance reaches zero, agents stop generating AI responses. Visitors see a message indicating the agent is unavailable. To restore service:

  • Purchase a credit top-up add-on from Settings → Billing (credits are available immediately).
  • Upgrade your plan to a higher tier with a larger monthly credit allowance.
  • Wait for the next billing cycle reset.

Tracking usage in the UsageLog

Every credit-consuming event is recorded internally with the following data: organisation, agent, user (if logged in), event type, AI model used, token counts (tokens_in, tokens_out, total_tokens), monetary cost, and credits consumed. This data powers all the charts and breakdowns on the Usage page.

💡
If one agent is consuming a disproportionate share of credits, check its conversation history for unusually long sessions or loops. Setting a maximum session length or refining your AI instructions can reduce credit consumption.
ℹ️
The Usage page filters update the displayed totals client-side — the circular gauges always show your full billing-period totals, not just the filtered date range, unless you select a specific agent from the dropdown.
